About Us

Welcome to Trusting Hands Disability Services (THDS)

Trusting Hands Disability Services (THDS) is a Registered NDIS Provider supporting participants across Canberra and surrounding regions. THDS is led by an experienced Registered Nurse and has been providing quality disability and mental health support services since early 2021. What sets THDS apart is our compassionate, person-centred approach and our extensive experience supporting individuals with complex physical, psychosocial, and mental health needs. We are committed to delivering high-quality care that promotes dignity, independence, recovery, and meaningful community participation.

THDS supports participants living with physical disabilities, mental health conditions, and psychosocial disabilities, including individuals who have received treatment within mental health settings, correctional facilities, and those experiencing drug and alcohol addiction or recovery challenges. Our experienced team understands the importance of consistency, trauma-informed care, and building trusting relationships that support long-term stability and wellbeing.

We are experienced in delivering High Intensity Supports, Community Nursing Care, Supported Independent Living (SIL), and in-home support services that enable participants to remain safely and independently in their own homes. Our support workers and nursing staff work closely with participants, families, guardians, and allied health professionals to ensure individual needs and goals are met in a safe and respectful manner.

Families and participants who reach out to THDS can expect responsive communication, personalised support planning, and a caring team that genuinely values each participant’s wellbeing and independence. We assist participants with a wide range of daily living and community-based supports, including personal care, medication assistance, transport, shopping, meal preparation, attending doctor and healthcare appointments, social and group activities, and community access.

At THDS, we believe every participant deserves the opportunity to live a fulfilling and meaningful life with the right support around them. Our goal is to empower participants to build confidence, maintain their independence, improve their quality of life, and remain connected to their community.

Specialised Support for Complex Needs

THDS has significant experience working with participants who have engaged with Mental Health services, Justice Health systems, and Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) programs. We understand the complexities involved in supporting individuals with intersecting health, behavioural, and social challenges.

Our team is skilled in providing structured, consistent, and respectful support that promotes stability, reduces risk, and encourages long-term positive outcomes.

Our Mission, Vision, and Core Values

Clinical Compliance and Ongoing Care

We work closely with participants to ensure they remain engaged with their treatment and recovery journey. Our supports include:

  • Promoting and supporting medication compliance
  • Ensuring attendance at clinical reviews and psychiatric appointments
  • Supporting adherence to Psychiatric Treatment Orders
  • Delivering ongoing education on mental health and relapse prevention

Our focus is on building capacity, helping participants develop the knowledge and confidence to manage their health and wellbeing more independently over time.

Collaboration with Health Services

THDS actively collaborates with mental health services, hospitals, and community health centres across Canberra, Queanbeyan, and Yass Valley. We maintain strong working relationships with clinicians, allied health professionals, and care teams to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to support.

This collaborative model allows us to provide well-informed care that aligns with each participant’s clinical and personal goals.

Responsible Management of NDIS Funding

We recognise the importance of ensuring that participants’ NDIS funding is used appropriately, transparently, and in their best interests.

THDS is committed to working within the NDIS framework and guidelines, ensuring that all supports delivered are aligned with participant goals and funding plans. We actively support responsible service delivery and accountability, in line with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) expectations to transform the Australian disability support system that provides choice, control, and reasonable support to people with permanent disability.

Our approach ensures that participants, families, and stakeholders can have full confidence that resources are managed effectively and ethically.

Built on Trust, Transparency, and Integrity

Trust is not just part of our name, it defines how we operate.

THDS has built a strong reputation for being open, honest, and transparent in all interactions. We prioritise clear communication with participants, their families, carers, and other stakeholders, ensuring everyone remains informed and involved.

We are accountable, responsive, and committed to doing what is right—always in the best interest of the participant.
